The Daintree is an area between the Daintree River and Cape Tribulation in Far North Queensland, Australia. The area is the No. 1 tourist destination in Australia. Near the Great Barrier Reef, It is 2 hours drive from Cairns International Airport, and Port Douglas. A few minutes drive is the Daintree River. The property lies between 2 creeks and has a further one at the rear. On three sides superb rainforest slope from the back. There are several very good house sites with mains power and clean water. At present, 25 acres are planted with organic bananas and there is a large packing shed and cold room. With the property goes a mass of unique know-how gathered over 20 years. The bananas are regarded as the best in Australia, and, when we were exporting them to Japan, they were stated to be, after testing, the best in the world. However, the real value of the property lies in up market tourism. The tourist ecotourism potential could be reached in many ways, but the following is a rough suggestion based on experience. The bananas should be increased to 50 acres as a main crop. At present the 25 acres are viable, but with 50 acres they should be very profitable. A further 20 acres could be planted with mature rare tropical fruit trees which flourish in this area. These would not only be marketable, but can be used for tasting by tourists. A small area of about 5 acres contains superb rainforest. The combination, of rainforest, how organic bananas are grown, and the rare tropical fruit trees and fruit would combine to give a unique tourist experience. Adjacent to the property is another property of about 40 acres, of which about 30 acres contain some of the best virgin tropical rainforest in Australia. This would be ideally suited for canopy walks and refreshment areas by creeks. This property could be for sale or used in partnership. The 10 acres of cleared land on this property would be ideal for a crocodile farm, which would not only be very profitable, but would add to the tourist attraction. Finally, tourists could go by boat on the nearby Daintree River, which contains crocodiles, and the banks contain some of the most varied mangrove trees in the World.Organic Banana Plantation with huge ecotourism potential Location: Alexandra Farm, Forest Creek Road, Douglas Shire North Queensland Australia Property Type: Lots/Land www.alexandrafarm.com Features include:
