Etienne gave us constant updates on how the sale was going and we found him to be completely reliable and trustworthy.

Sale brings mixed feelings for agent.

The competition last week of the sale of the commercial property at 59 to 65 Sheridan St through to 50 McLeod St brought mixed feelings to selling agent Meg Trimble of Trimble Real Estate. As a real estate agent of some 30 years experience in Cairns, she was proud and pleased to see a couple of years of work come to fruition. She also said that at the time she commenced marketing the property, she did not have a web site, so Gavin Roberts of Quixell had organised to put it up on his site. "I don't think the general public realise how often and how successfully some of us 'smaller' agents work together. I am the first to acknowledge that Gavins help was crucial at times in the successful marketing of the property" she said.

But on a personal note, it was the end of an era. "That property has been in my family over 90 years, and many of my first memories are tied up in it" she said. Her Grandfather, George Griffiths originally bought the 2 blocks in Sheridan St as a horse paddock. He was running an ice works across the road (about where Hedley Liquor store is now) which included delivering the ice - in horse and cart. He needed more paddocks for his horses, so negotiated to buy these. Many years later, (in 1929) he built on the site, and commenced his "Advanx Tyre Hospital" with the residence upstairs and shop downstairs. This was the first tyre retreading facility anywhere in the world which was outside of a capital city, so even then Cairns was leading the way".

Meg says her uncle Tom Griffiths was born in one of the rooms there. "As a young girl I remember when we 'slept over' at our grandparents place, the highly polished timber floors on the verandah, which was 'over the footpath', the neon sign blinking all night, waking to the sound of the church bells as all the churches those days had bells and rang them. With practise you could tell them apart, St Monica's from St Johns and the Methodist from the Presbyterian."

She recalled the petrol pumps had the bowl on top, and you had to nominate how much fuel you wanted, it was pumped up into the bowl, then drained out into the car. Every service station had a "bowser boy" who was responsible for operating the bowser, plus, cleaning the windscreen, checking oil, battery acid levels, radiator and tyres.

Later, as the business expanded into Advanx Tyre and Motor Service, her grandparents relocated to Edge Hill, and the business office relocated upstairs. She laughed as she recalled how what had once been her mothers bedroom became her fathers office. The business was sold in the early 80's and relocated. Since then the premises have been rented to various businesses, the latest of these including the Chemist Warehouse in McLeod St and the Rug Liquidation centre in Sheridan St.

This letter serves to document our appreciation of the efforts and prefessional conduct of Mr Etienne Lambert displayed during the recent sale of our home.

We had wished, for considerable time, to sell our appartment at the Lakes Resort in Cairns. We had given the listing to several well known real estate agencies over the course of approximately 8 months. During this time, numerous open home inspections were cnducted and considerable money was expended on additional advertising. All ofthis effort and expenditure did not result in any concrete offers.

Undaunted by this challenge, Etienne worked tirelessly to promote and market our home. However, the most pleasing aspect of our experience with Etienne was that he regularly went out of his way to make sure that we were constantly kept up to date and informed on all progress with marketing and the subsequent sale.

It must also be boted that Etienne went beyond what was expected when finance for the buyer of our property was declined. His support and assistance for the buyer resulted in finance being approved from another provider and subsequently the sale of our property was achieved without any further delay.

We have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Etienne and the Quixell team to anyone wishing to sell their home.
